New Partnership with HeartKids

We are excited to announce HeartKids as an Official Charity Partner for the Sydney Blue Sox.

HeartKids focuses on supporting children, adults and families faced with the lifelong battle of Congenital Heart Disease (CHD).

HeartKids is the only organisation that is there to support all these families through face-to-face or phone support, access to information and education, practical advice based on experience, connect to the HeartKids community and practical assistance; for example patient travel and food vouchers.

Season Update

ABL Makes Call on 2021/22 Season, Sets Sights on Bright Future

The Australian Baseball League will refocus its planning on making the 2022/23 season its biggest yet after making the difficult decision to abandon the 2021/22 campaign due to the ongoing challenges presented by the COVID-19 global pandemic.

Baseball Australia chief executive Glenn Williams said the decision was incredibly difficult to make but made with the league’s long term-term success and sustainability in mind.

Fogorty Returns for his Sophomore Year with the Blue Sox

The Sydney Blue Sox have today announced the re-signing of 2020/21 Blue Sox debutant Shayne Fogorty for the upcoming 2021/22 ABL season. Fogorty made three starts in his debut year, which was shortened due to the Covid 19 pandemic, and he has high expectations to build on his debut season.

There is potential to be drafted straight out of high school, or go to a 2 -year (Community and Junior Colleges) or 4-year college then maybe into the minor leagues (“AAA”, “AA.” & “A” level) before the MLB becomes an opportunity.

Clarke Agrees to Second Tour of Duty with the Blue Sox

Former MLB Australian Prospect Tour graduate Dylan Clarke has agreed to terms today with the Sydney Blue Sox for the upcoming 2021/22 ABL season. This will be Clarke’s second tour of duty with the Blue Sox, after being added to the organisations 30-man roster for season 2020/21.

Blue Sox sign Pitcher Daniel Myrmell for a 2nd Season

Daniel Myrmell, who debuted for the Sydney Blue Sox during season 2020/21, has agreed to terms today to return with the organisation for the upcoming 2021/22 ABL season. Myrmell, a right-handed pitcher from the Ryde State League Club in Sydney, previously played collegiately with Western Nebraska Community College and also played in the Dutch league with the Dordrecht Hawks.

Promising young catcher, Jake Amos returns for his 3rd season

22-year-old Jake Amos will return to the Sydney Blue Sox for season 2021/22, agreeing to terms on a one-year deal that will see him participate in his 5th ABL season. Amos made his ABL debut in 2017 as a Development Player for the Blue Sox before linking up with the Canberra Cavalry for season 2018/19. He then returned to the Blue Sox the following season.

ABL Season to be Postponed by a Month

Due to the uncertainty across Australia with the COVID-19 pandemic, the ABL has today made the decision to push back the start of the 2021/22 season by a month, now looking for a mid to late December start. The season was originally scheduled to commence on November 18.

2020/21 Sydney Blue Sox Pitcher of the Year, Matthew Rae Re-signs

The 2020/21 Sydney Blue Sox Pitcher of the Year, Matthew Rae, has re-signed today with the Sydney Blue Sox, bringing back the veteran left-hander for his 10th ABL season. Last season, Rae turned in what was considered his best year, throwing a number of quality innings during a COVID affected season.
